About Me

William Zinsser defined the 4 principles of good writing as: Clarity, Brevity, Simplicity, and Humanity. And because I believe that every graphic design project is a storytelling exercise, these are also the principles I apply to my design work. I communicate my client’s ideas as legibly, efficiently, and elegantly as possible, while still producing work that feels personal and humane.

My favorite design projects are those with the thorniest problems and the tightest parameters. Surmounting a challenge—whether of design or logistics—through teamwork, dedication, and creative thinking is the second best part of being a designer (the best part is seeing your designs put to use in the real world).

I believe persistent excitement is my greatest strength. I can get passionate about a design, have circumstance or necessity completely change the things I was most excited about, and use that opportunity to find new aspects of the work to put my passion into. I haven’t found a design project that can bore me yet, and I doubt I ever will.

When not at work I like to cook new recipes, read books of history and speculative fiction, take long hikes to good views, draw maps of places that don’t exist, and host game nights for my friends.
